Don’t go

A poem

Photo by Lisa Alam on Unsplash

I wanna employ the fires from hell
to burn your passport
cleanse you of your thought
of another country

I don't wish to guard this lantern alone
be the army of one against the odds
the moment you migrate to another colony
I should grow extra limbs to hold you back

on the morning of your departure
I pray for a heavy rain
for your flight to be delayed
long enough to change your mind
