Warmth of the sun

A bit of happiness

I wake up to a day when the rain has given us a break.
I will be on the road before the sun shows its love and greets us.
One thing you can always count on,
the warmth-love of a new day from the sun.

I will be on the road
giving my heart and my lungs a welfare check.
Three to five kilometres will do the right trick.
Knowing my son, he will be up by the time I get back.
Hands deep in the garden.
Barefoot, most likely.

It’s the weekend and the crazy always comes out.
Somewhere on the block,
there will be a pool party.
Finally, "us" mothers will get to relax
from our busy work schedule.
I mean yell until our throats require
something stronger than orange juice.
At least we will be at home.
Under the warmth of the sun.

When the afternoon hits,
it will be cool enough for us to lay near the poolside.
Celebrate a season that requires fewer clothes.
Showing off our legs more than we are comfortable to.
Smiles and laughter won’t be a thing of the past.
What was dormant during winter
will rise, bloom and flourish.
When the next day begins, we will be waiting.
Prepared to chime across the land.
